Motivation

IEEE 802.11 networks underlie various influences and to create such a network it is essential to know the properties of the medium and how to deal with them. In general the quality of transmissions on the medium is rated by the link-level quality among the participating networknodes. In the following work we are going to discuss some of the factors that affect the medium aswell as some metrics to actually meassure the quality and some approaches to enhance it.

The Scenario

Delivery Propability

Metric - Allan Deviation

Influencing Variables

Distance

Signal to Noise Ratio

Transmission Rate

Interferences

Distortion by Reflection
