- A Dictionary Attack can be used, if a password file can be accessed (system can run tests offline)
- Encrypting values in the dictionary and comparing them with those in the file
- Other way: trying out combinations of most common female names followed by digits
- Programs like crack or JohnTheRipper for Unix and L0phtcrack for Windows
