Workshop CFP (Prelimenary)
The field of Wireless Mesh Networks is eagerly explored by many communities, including established and new/small operators, free community network activist, and researchers at universities and industry laboratories. Many countries, and Germany in particular, have a rich set of actors in this scene, who have accumulated a wealth of novel technologies, practical experience, and visions of future services and potential business. This workshop will provide a unique forum (1) to capture the current state of affairs from the operator's, the researcher's, and the community network activity’s perspective, and, (2) to encourage the exchange of ideas, to discuss best practices and upcoming standards, and to raise awareness between these groups, which will hopefully lead to their intensified co-operation rather than just co-existence.
PAPERS: Authors are invited to submit full papers presenting new research, experience or business approaches in the area of wireless mesh networks, free community networks, or 802.11-based service provisioning. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Experience with implementation and experimental (urban) community networks
- Integration of operator networks with community mesh networks
- Operator-controlled vs. automatic (radio-) resource management in mesh networks
- Applications and services for wireless mesh networks
- Integration and interworking of wired and wireless (mesh) networks
- Location-dependent applications and services
- QoS in wireless mesh networks
- VoIP in wireless mesh networks
- Advanced Routing protocols for wireless mesh networks
- Interference management in wireless mesh networks
- Real-Time Applications in wireless mesh networks
- Cross-Layer Optimization in wireless mesh content distribution networks
- Simulation Frameworks and Performance Evaluation of wireless mesh networks
The technical program committee will referee all papers.
HOT TOPIC PRESENTATIONS: The workshop also strongly encourages the submission of short papers or experience reports in the field of Wireless Mesh Community Networks, as well as papers that present revolutionary new ideas or that challenge existing assumptions prevalent in the research or business/operator communities.
STUDENT POSTER SESSION: Proposals for student posters are solicited that represent recent and on-going research by students on wireless mesh networks , community networks, or community network services. The poster submission should include a 2-page description of the student’s research.
