Language

We noticed in web environments at minimum these languages:

- C# - C++ - Java - JavaScript - Perl - PHP - Python - Ruby - VBScript

If you now think about which language you should choose then you should not only think about the features of the language. You should think about the complete coding environment and about the operational aspects of the final system. What does this mean?

Coding environment

  • final system requirements
  • frameworks to reduce dependability on special persons
  • whom do you trust

Operational Aspects

- maintenance by other persons - future changes - tools availability in the future - support of tools in the future - stability of partners - re-use

So do not decide about a language only, decide about tools and frameworks at the same time too.
